Be inspired by Susanne, 65, who shows that skiing is a lifelong joy
- and that Vemdalen is the place where all generations enjoy the slopes.

The health benefits of skiing for seniors

Skiing is not only a fun winter sport, it's also a great way to keep your body going even into old age. For Susanne, it's a lifestyle. She is retired, but she hardly ever stands still. When winter comes, walks and gym sessions are replaced by fast-paced days on the slopes.

- I feel alive on skis. There's something about feeling the wind, the sun and the speed," says Susanne.

Vemdalens slopes - perfect for all ages

With three ski areas—Vemdalsskalet, Björnrike Klövsjö/Storhogna—there are slopes for all levels of experience and physical abilities. Susanne appreciates being able to alternate between wide carving slopes and gentler runs in wooded areas.

- There are just the right amount of people, plenty of space and often really good snow. I have never felt restricted here," she says.

Equipment tips for safe and fun riding

Having the right equipment is particularly important for seniors. Susanne recommends renting skis with good stability and damping. A helmet and back protection are a must.

- I always take a little extra time to put on good clothes and of course always a helmet. It increases both comfort and safety," she says.

Best weeks for quiet skiing

For those who want to avoid the most intense weeks, Susanne recommends January and March.

- The slopes are at their best then. There's a slower pace, plenty of space and often fantastic weather," she says.

A place to long for

Susanne returns to Vemdalen year after year. She loves the community, the nature and the feeling of being part of the rhythm of the mountains.

- It doesn't matter how old you are, you can always have fun on skis. And in Vemdalen it is extra easy to enjoy.
